The New Gonzo Journal is the brainchild of Freelance Journalist; Dr. Strat P. Koutsoumanis.
The good Doctor has worked in many fields and lived many lives.
During the summer of 2024, suffering a broken leg whilst in a mosh pit at a Heavy Metal Gig, this middle aged ruffian had to slow down, get some surgery and rest up for 7 weeks. The time to rest, coupled with a few doses of Opioids for the pain, caused him to rediscover his love again for writing and the journalism of days gone past: Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Wolfe, Truman Capote, Norman Mailer and Michael Herr, among others – he decided to get qualified and dive on into the world of Journalism.

SPK chronicled the journey through the IVF cycle, then started writing memoirs from their youth; operational tours with the British Army, life in the corporate world as a professional leader and being an avid fan and player of guitar, DJing and producing Drum and Bass on the UK club circuity – he’s lived many lives, and added many strings to his bow. Now he’s ready to tell the tales and live many more.
The New Gonzo Journal is a Freelance publishing space to showcase his work, receive feedback from readers and in time hopefully grow the platform for good or ill, involving other individuals who at a certain time of life have decided that the pen is mightier than the sword, and want to join a new wave of Gonzo journalists, determined to keep the spirit of Gonzo alive!
